A Day In The Life: Summer Nanny

The worst thing about summer (besides the temps) is the transition from school to home. Getting into a new routine and adjusting is so hard. Keeping the kiddos entertained when you’re used to having them for only part of the day. Going from one baby to the baby and a toddler and a kid. Im tired y’all.

This morning I got up with a headache. Not a full migraine, but I was feeling low. The boys were hyper after swim lessons and I was a tackle dummy the minute I arrived.

Thankfully my little sister came to help. She took the boys outside while the baby napped. We were awaiting the arrival of a water table and the boys were chomping at the bit.

My mom came to the rescue with some water toys and bath crayons for the water table. She also brought a list of activities like she used on us when we were little.

I love my mom’s handwriting

She said the key is specific tasks. Instead of “go play” or “go outside” it’s, “go build a lego house” or “go climb the jungle gym”.

Thankfully once the water table arrived we had an afternoon of bubble blowing, water play and snacks in the shade of the back porch. It was heavenly. Shady, breezy, and we even brought the baby out. She sat in her high chair with a wash cloth and teething toys. (I also found my excedrin so my headache improved.)
