The easiest teaching assignments in MY opinion…
- Student Teacher: They do all the “work” and you are just a warm body in the corner keeping things balanced
- Planning period included
- Specials – music, art, library, p.e. (the classes rotate so it’s no more than an hour with each class. If a class is particularly hard, oh well! They will be gone soon.)
- Field trips: Not when I go on a field trip, but when half a grade or more does…
- Half day assignments, in particular morning assignments. You get to leave by noon and then have a productive afternoon at home!
- Teacher meetings, so the teacher hasn’t actually left the school. If there’s an emergency they can come back and straighten the kids out. AND, oftentimes, they get done early so YOU get done early.
- Late start/early release days. You get paid for a full day, but the hours are cut short.
Today I am fortunate enough to have a: student teacher, half day assignment, planning period included, field trip day so half the kids are missing.
