The Mice…

Recently I was driving and I heard a noise above my head. I thought, “It sounds like something is walking on top of my car… Weird…” And then it stopped.

A week later I was sending my sister a marco polo and I heard a distinct squeaking in my EAR. Right above my head there was a squeak.

I then checked my glovebox and all of the papers inside were actually shredded.

My youngest sister came over and helped me clean out my car. We removed EVERYTHING from the trunk. Anything I needed I put in a rubbermade tub. Anything that wasn’t paper I put in the glovebox. We vacuumed, scrubbed, and tidied.

I had kept two mousetraps in my car. They did not ever get triggered. So I bought some live traps. (Linked here…)

I have been setting these traps with peanut butter and leaving all four of them in the trunk of my car for exactly one week. I have since caught not one… not two… but 16 MICE in the trunk of my car… Six. Teen.

The first 2-3 were big, like… BIG mice. The last 13 were small and getting smaller.

It’s as if a mouse couple moved into the ceiling of my car and then had a little mouse family.

It’s not uncommon for a mouse to get in my car in the winter. It’s a common country occurrence. But never this many.

There is a good chance that the mice are being drawn to the peanut butter from the garage, and they haven’t ALL been living in my car… but still. I’m catching them in the trunk of my car.

Needless to say I am now inspired to keep things tidy and organized. And after work I will check to see if any more have been caught.
