A few weeks ago I attended a Sara Evans concert with my dad and youngest sister. Dad loves Sara Evans and his bucket list included seeing her in concert. So we drove over an hour (not a bad drive btw…) to see her play in Missouri. It was fun! It was also very hot. There were literally NO places to eat between us and the venue. Like, we drove to the middle of nowhere Missouri for this show.
She had an opener who was very talented. We ate BBQ hosted by the event venue. It was SUPER hot out and we had to sit on asphalt so that was toasty… and we got there early so we waited for ages. Tons of people were drinking because that’s unfortunately what socializing is these days. Especially for country music events. And as I stood in line to get us waters and dr peppers I was forced into smalltalk with several groups of drunk people. Nice as could be, but smelly and crude.
We stayed for over half the show, but Dad was ready to go after an hour. We didn’t get to hear his favorite song, which also made me feel bad. BUT, we had so much fun. The drive was fun. Hanging out with my dad was fun. Hanging out with my sister was fun. We stopped at McDonalds on the way home. (The only other place to eat besides the BBQ place.) And got ice cream for the drive.
And I heard Sara Evans’s cover of “It’s Too Late” by Carole King and it is my new “I need a good cry” song. Holy cow. So excellent.
