Weddings

October is wedding month. I say this because in the last two years two of my siblings have had October weddings and this year I have or will attend two weddings in October.

Last weekend my best friend and I drove up to Johnson, Nebraska to attend a friend’s wedding. Well… the reception. Their wedding was a private family only ceremony. Which is actually a trend I have seen a lot lately. Very cool.

We got there, hugged the bride, met her puppy (a bulldog) and talked with her stepmom for a while. We also ate some chips and salsa and battled the bees that were literally swarming and swimming in the punch. We decided to leave pretty quick. One because I wasn’t feeling well and two because it was awkward and we didn’t know anyone except the bride and groom. BUT. it was important to go. I wanted to support my friend and I got to spend an entire afternoon with my best friend. So it was a good day.

We stopped and ate at Texas Roadhouse, which is always a good choice, and made it home at a reasonable hour.

Next weekend I get to see my best friend’s little brother get married. She was at my sister’s wedding last year, and I am super excited to get to support her in the same way. To add to the fun, her brother asked me to lengthen the sleeves on his suit jacket and hem his pants, which I successfully did. By hand! I am both proud and relieved that it worked.

Here’s to a month of spooky things and love and our first taste of cool fall weather.

Happy October!
