Saturday Morning Protestors

This summer there has been a group, consisting primarily of Baby Boomers, who stand at the one stop light in our small little town and hold up signs about how much they hate Trump.

Free speech and right to assembly and all that aside… why? What’s the point? What will that do? Will that CHANGE anything? I guess it could make people feel validated, because this random group of people also hate Trump (if you hate him), but like… do you not have things to do? Do you not have grandkids who could use some love? Do you not have jobs, or friends, or gardens, or tv shows to catch up on? Why stand on the corner? Why hold up signs? Why hinder traffic? Why shout at people walking by?

I was at the coffee shop enjoying live music on this fine Saturday morning, and it was continuously disrupted by honking. Whether in solidarity or a protest of their own I have no idea, but it was distracting.

Now, it could also be said, “At least they are doing SOMEthing.” And “There’s reason to believe if they protest they are also doing things during the rest of the week to ‘fight’.” Color me cynical, but I don’t understand why they have to do this. All it makes ME do is avoid town.
