Trying to Explain a Struggle

To someone who just doesn’t get it…

Have you ever had something that you needed help with but couldn’t explain it? I have often tried to explain my inner thoughts to someone who doesn’t understand. Church friends especially. You can see in their face when you lose them. It is rough because we are called as Christians to bear one another’s burdens, but yikes… The judgment or even the emptiness in the eyes.

I think it has taught me to be careful what I share, or at least be aware of “trauma dumping” on someone who isn’t equipped to deal with it. Also, not every conversation has to be a long heart to heart where you bear your souls. I love those conversations, but not everyone is up for it.

So, while trying to make friends as an adult (especially at church) I will check what I’m saying. Some things are reserved for close friends, and sometimes the opportunity to have those heart to hearts will happen.

It’s about balance. And learning some self awareness.
