Rare Animal Sightings

I live out in the country so I see more animals than most, but lately I have seen several animals that I don’t get to see very often.

I hear coyotes every day. I rarely see one. I also hear owls all the time, but again I rarely see them.

Things that I NEVER see (or hear) but have seen lately…

  • Pheasants! On my way to church the last couple of months I often see a beautiful pheasant in the ditch! They must have a nest nearby. Pheasants are seriously beautiful birds. I think that’s a more common to see in the western part of the state.

  • Bobcats. I think they are so cute, but I have only seen one a few times in my life. Recently I saw one also in a ditch.

  • Foxes. The funny thing is my friends in town see foxes more regularly than I do. The other night I was driving through town super late and a big ol’fox ran across the road. Part of me is thankful that I don’t encounter them because I have chickens, but part of me is jealous because they’re so beautiful!
