This week I celebrated a good friend’s birthday. She is an assistant coroner for the county. I think… Her job is to go investigate deaths and make sure they’re not suspicious. She also deals with contacting the family and letting them know what services are available to help… tend to the body of the deceased.
After dinner we had some time to kill. (She was on call.) And it was raining, so we decided to take a walk around walmart. While walking down the clearance aisle she kept noticing details. Which is kind of her job, but it made me laugh. I was so unaware and so unobservant. It made me wonder what goes through her brain every day. How much does she notice? Is this a coroner thing? Is this something she was trained to do, or did she get this job because she naturally notices the details?
She’s a fascinating person and definitely helped me have a new experience in a store I have often take for granted.
