I (allegedly) have a doppleganger or two living in the state. Not just the state, but living close enough that we run into the same people regularly.
My first experience knowing this was in our small town of 5,000. I was in high school and a friend group went to the local college because a friend’s mom worked there. She asked me what I needed and I said, “I’m just waiting with everyone else from the high school…” She said, “Oh! I could have sworn you were a student. I saw you just this morning!” I was like, “Well… although I took a couple college courses for credit, I haven’t been to this office before…”
Then, while my childhood bff was attending KU she sent me a photo of a girl from one of her classes. We had the same hair, the same haircut, similarly pale skin and very similar glasses. I still have that girl’s photo on my phone because the likeness was so wild.
My final hint to a said look alike could have been a trap. One night I was driving home from the city when I got pulled over for having expired tags. Turns out my car was also pretty dirty and the license plate was hard to read. It was a training because there was an experienced policeman and a super handsome young dude shadowing him. The older guy talked the trainee through the experience and had him run my license and insurance etc… (I didn’t mind watching!) Before they let me go (without a ticket mind you) the older gentleman said, “Didn’t you used to drive a red camry?” I said, “No… I’ve never had a red car.” He said, “Are you sure? I have pulled you over before but the car was red.” I was like, “Nope… not me! I’ve had a silver car, champagne colored car and a white car… Never a red one.” My thoughts here were that either it was part of training, they legit mistook me for someone else or it was a test. Either way, I didn’t get a ticket, they cleaned off my license plate for me and even put the new tags on (because I had them in my car but kept forgetting to put them on my license plate).
Have you ever had someone look so similar to you that you were repeatedly mistaken for someone else? I think I have one, maybe two locally… but we have yet to meet.
