Wasps

I hate wasps and mud daubers and yellow jackets and any/all bugs that sting/bite/attack.

When I was housing my little chickies this last week I discovered not one, not two, but THREE new nests being made by these flying pests.

I knocked the nests down and squashed a few with my shoes, but they kept coming.

Last summer I bought these paper lantern things that are faux wasp nests. They will hopefully make the flying demons think that another colony has already moved in and they need to build a nest elsewhere. For 2-3 days I didn’t see a wasp, but today I saw several. I don’t know if they realized they’ve been duped or if they have built a nest that I have not found yet.

I am not above wasp spray, but I don’t want to harm the chickens. Someone told me that dawn dish soap mixed with a couple other things can kill a wasp mid flight. Gotta get some prepared just in case.

Last year when there was a large wasp nest on my garage door my best friend came over and took care of it for me. While I try to use clean products I have no mercy when it comes to bugs.

Let me know if you have any pest remedies.
