Unicorn Cake Pops

I had a loyal customer (my former elementary school teacher) order some cake pops for her daughter’s party. She requested Unicorns, with the color themes being white, pink and purple.

Have you ever made cake pops? It’s time consuming. And the order was placed the week I was getting back from a trip to Texas.

So I broke this 5-6 hour process into several days.

Day 1 – Bake the cake (these were strawberry)

Day 2 – Mix the cake up with icing and form them into balls, add the sticks and make the ears out of fondant.

Day 3 – Dip the cake pops into candy melt and arrange them on a tray. Add sprinkles, ears and unicorn horns.

Day 4 – Do touch ups, add eyes with edible marker

Day 5 – Wrap them individually

I think they turned out pretty cute. I tried to order a mold to make the ears and horns but the person on etsy cancelled my order, so… I had to make them by hand. I found the unicorn horn sprinkles on etsy and got fondant from michaels to make the ears. I also added gold and pink inside the ears with edible markers. Then the tops were sprinkled with pretty sprinkles (flowers and hearts).

I hope they make the most magical party favors (I sampled some broken ones and I have to say… they were tasty.)
