Golf Cart Status

In our little town of about 5,000 we have a new status symbol. Golf Carts. (Or little kubota tractor cart things…)

People drive them around town like regular cars, parking at the gas station, zooming up and down main street. We even have folks out in the countryside where I live driving them. I think they were made for getting around a field and hauling equipment. Like when you need to treat a sick cow or carry some salt blocks out to the pasture… Cheaper than a truck but more useful than a four wheeler.

But not in our town! In our town is shows status. The person can show us they have money and we can know who is super annoying without having to have a face to face interaction.

(I am not actually bothered by these things, but I do find them quite silly. It’s like when you see someone wearing a ball cap or a cowboy hat, but you know they have never worked a day in their life and it’s just a fashion statement.)
