Claw clips are back with a vengeance and I for one am here for it. (I guess they never really went anywhere, but these trends pop up with vigor every 20-30 years or so…)
The square claw clips are my absolute favorite. They hold my hair the best. I also really like the look of the metal ones, but they tend to fall out easier if you have really fine hair like I do.
The other day I saw a video of an animated woman before and after a car accident. She had been wearing a claw clip on the back of her head and after the impact of the accident the clip was embedded into her skull. OUCH!
Good news for me, because I find it uncomfortable to drive with a claw clip in I always wear them high on top of my head. Maybe not fool proof, but definitely less likely to end up embedded in my skull should I (God forbid) end up in a car accident.
The problem with wearing a claw clip on top of my head is that it makes me taller, which results in me getting hit in the head when I get in/out of my tiny car. (Toyota Corollas are great cars, but there’s not a ton of headspace. Especially when you’re already tall and you wear your hair up.)
I was laughing at myself trying to maneuver in/out of my car the other day, holding my bags and water bottle and jacket. It was like getting into a clown car.
So… if you wear hair clips, reconsider wearing them when operating a motor vehicle. Stay safe, stay cute.
