Restaurants Need Waiting Rooms

The worst part about eating out with a group of 3+ people is the wait. Why? Because you sit on a bench, usually by the entrance, and stare… Stare at your phone, stare at the other people walking in, stare at the servers walking by. I hate it. I hate the awkward wait.

How can this be rectified? I propose restaurants have a waiting room. Not just a bench by the door, but an actual room where people can sit more comfortably, or at least have a wall separating them from the people entering.

We ate at Cheddars last weekend for my sister’s birthday. We had a group of seven, so we had to wait 20 minutes. (No big deal, especially for a Saturday night.) The issue was sitting on the bench in the entryway being passed by the 100 people going in out, making awkward eye contact, getting blasted by the wind every time the door opened.

You might be thinking, “Then STAY HOME and don’t go out to restaurants on busy nights.” Well. I normally don’t go out on busy nights.

Do I think restaurants should make this change for me and me alone? No. There is a world full of introverts who would love to have this idea adopted.

Should you all make these changes to accommodate all the introverts? Yes please 😀
