The 10x Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure by Grand Cardone.
I am listening to this as an audiobook (because that’s how I do it) and I must say… it’s intense.
This is the only book that I have listened to in ages where I don’t set it at 1.4+ speed because the narrator speaks so slowly. The author narrates this book himself, and Grand Cardone is a fast talker.
Taken from Amazon Description: “Achieve “Massive Action” results and accomplish your business dreams!
While most people operate with only three degrees of action-no action, retreat, or normal action-if you’re after big goals, you don’t want to settle for the ordinary. To reach the next level, you must understand the coveted 4th degree of action. This 4th degree, also known as the 10 X Rule, is that level of action that guarantees companies and individuals realize their goals and dreams.”
This book intimidates me, probably because it’s about sales. The ideas behind it are:
- It takes just as much work to achieve a goal of $2000 as it does $2,000,000.
- If you only succeed in part of your goal, setting a higher goal will mean you earn part of a high goal instead of part of a lower goal. (With the idea that the part of the higher goal will still surpass the whole of your smaller goal.)
I am 1/2 through the book and it’s exhausting to think about. I am not the type of person who does well being rushed all the time, and I’m not the best at self motivating. SO… this is good because I can see where I need to improve, but I also know that sales aren’t for me.
Cardone seems to be someone who is highly motivated and unafraid to fail. When others scale back and take a conservative approach he is aggressively upscaling and seeking new clients.
It’s not a difficult read, and he asks some good journal prompts at the end of each chapter. I definitely recommend this book for someone who is getting started in business, or someone who wants to reinvigorate their current business.
