A Steve By Any Other Name…

I have had a list of favorite names for as long as I can remember. The top name, number one in my heart, mind and soul, is Steve. (Not Stephen. Steve.)

When I teach I like to star the names that stick out to me that I might want to add to my list.

Here are some of my favorite ones from this year…

  • Marlee (This is cute, but does make me think of the dog movie.)
  • Abigail (Classic)
  • Clara (Very feminine, and I had a great aunt named Clara)
  • Elliot (Pete’s Dragon, excellent name)
  • Silas (Biblical, nice…)
  • Arwen (LOTR, always a fan)
  • Rupert (This was a last name, but I like it)
  • Thatcher (Very cool, unique)
  • Zinnia (I love this. Flower names. I also like the name Crocus for something…. or someone….)
  • Elmer (Classic, my Grandpa’s name.)

Names I’ve never heard before…

  • Jenasyn (Jenna-sin)
  • Shylah (Shy-luh)
  • Eldon (Like Elton, but d)
  • Phyla (Sounds very scientific… maybe I’m thinking phylum)

Names that stuck out…

  • Rue (Hunger games, but I can dig it.)
  • Ozzy (Like Osborne? Potentially very cute.)
