Memories of the 2000s

When I was a kid, I remember anytime we would be going to a place taking multiple cars could get stressful. Not everyone had a GPS, not everyone had a phone. We used to drive around with walkie-talkies so that we could communicate with the other car.

Then when I was in high school, we had those Nextel phones that had built in walkie-talkies. And for graduation, I got a GPS so I could drive to and from college without issues.

I remember thinking the walkie-talkies were such a cool idea. We used them with going to an amusement park, the zoo, youth rally. All sorts of things.

Now communication and following Apple Maps makes getting around so simple. But I don’t want to go anywhere. Am I spoiled by innovation or am I just getting older?

The ponderings of an amateur traveler.
