Guess what they did y’all? They ruined my favorite Bridgerton book and I’m gonna complain about it, so BIG spoiler warning.

Seriously… Spoilers coming.

Things they did well:

The older Featherington sisters’ husbands. Comedic gold. Those four stole the show and it was brilliant.

Hyacinth was so sweet to Penelope, and in general.

Kate and Anthony were funny and still super hot/in love.

They talk about Edwina finding love. (Maybe the only accurate thing from Anthony’s book.)

Penelope’s hair and wardrobe 😍 10/10 stars

Portia Featherington is finally kind to Penelope.

All the babies.

Unnecessary things they added this season:

making Benedict bisexual, and not only that but he was essentially shamed into it after clearly stating he wasn’t interested. His character is capable of such depth but they only give him sex centered plot lines. The only time the books (as far as I recall) mention anything along this plot line it’s in Gregory’s book and they have to rescue Lucy from marrying a gay man who will make her sleep with his dad to gain an heir.

alluding to Francesca being a lesbian, which destroys everything from her book. The main theme of her story is infertility and love after death (she is widowed and soon after miscarries after a year or two of marriage).

hardly giving any time to the MAIN COUPLE especially in the last few episodes. And most of it was Colin whining. He NEVER stayed apart from Penelope once he found out her secret and he proposed after learning it. The show makes him seem unsteady when he contemplates breaking up after learning about Whistledown. So. Not. Colin.

anything to do with the Mondrake(?) family. I don’t understand why their plot line exists at all. Never have. It is not a value add. Giving Violet a love interest, which I knew was coming after Queen Charlotte, but it was weirdly done.

Lady Danbury’s feud with her brother and their reconciliation having little to no explanation. “I hate you.” “I was only ten.” “Ok I don’t hate you anymore.”

the Queen hunting down Lady Whistledown (most ANTICLIMACTIC reveal of all time omg…) The queen annoys me so much. Outside of her being in love with the king I don’t know what her purpose is for the show.

Cressida being nice then mean then kinda nice then super mean. I was hoping she would have a Nellie Olsen moment and end up being “good” once marrying a kind man. I mean, since they aren’t being true to the book anyway.

99% of Eloise. Easily my least favorite character, but I have high hopes for her storyline later.

Ruining Colin and Penelope’s story, and making them both worse versions of themselves.

Not letting Penelope’s second love interest have a happy ending. He was so nice.

No Daphne. She was the one who calmed Colin before the wedding in the books.

Overall it was equally as disappointing as season two, but they did include more book accurate moments.

In two years we should get Benedict’s story, but they’ve upset so many people with what they did to Francesca’s character I am hoping for some serious backlash. I think Netflix stinks and ShondaRhymes(?) is a ruiner of good things.
