Walking

This week my best friend recommended that we be accountability buddies for one another when it comes to walking for exercise. My sisters used to have Fitbits and they were all the time talking about getting their 10,000 steps for the day.

I have had so many emo moments lately, and the weather has been so perfect. I decided I wanted to walk. I’m using my phone to keep track because I don’t like smart watches. So I have no idea how accurate the stats are, but it’s going pretty well.

Living next-door to my parents and my older brother is really convenient because I’m always going over there for things. So over the last two days I have done a lot of walking between our houses. I feel super good and I’m getting lots of sun, which I desperately need. But here’s the deal…

I know myself. I might do this for two days, I might do this for two months, but unless I fix my glitchy brain, I will eventually give up and stop doing this thing. (Even though I enjoy it now and even though it’s beneficial.) So I decided I’m just gonna do it while I feel like it. There are no rules. If I feel like being outside, I’m gonna be outside. I’m not gonna guilt myself, I’m not going to talk down to myself, I’m not going to set goals that are impossible or make promises I know I can’t keep.

When it gets super hot I’ll probably replace long walks with trips to the lake. But as long as I’m active, that’s all that matters.

Day 2 is ending with 7800 steps and hours of time spent outside.

Did you know (on average) 2000 – 2500 steps is equal to a mile.
