When putting a baby to sleep there are some things you want to avoid.
After the baby has begun to doze, should they open their eyes again, DON’T MAKE EYE CONTACT.
The initial sleep likely isn’t a strong one. I recommend wait 60 seconds before attempting to lay the baby down.
Babies can tell when you go from standing to sitting. Keep the motions as consistent as possible. (Ex: If you’re standing keep the rocking motion going with your arms.)
Don’t try new things if you don’t have extra time. You will likely need to revert to original tactics and this will double the amount of time it takes to get a baby to sleep.
When in doubt, a bathroom with no windows is the winner. My house is super bright. Sometimes I have to take my niece to the bathroom to pace with her until she falls asleep.
Keep a pacifier and extra bottle within reach of the rocking chair. You will never not need them the days you don’t prepare ahead.
These are some tips from my arsenal. What are yours?
