A few months back I got a Ring Doorbell. I have to say, I am a fan.
You don’t HAVE to hook it up to alexa. So while it is kind of weird to think about constant cameras on the property, they aren’t linked to my amazon account and nothing is voice activated.
You have an option of a wired camera or a wireless camera. For my backyard I have a wired camera, because it’s connected to my floodlight. The front door is a wireless camera, so it needs charged every couple of months.
It’s very easy to install. Super simple.
It includes (if you get this package) a sensor to tell you if/when someone is in the house, sensors to tell you if/when someone opens a door or window.
It does cost about $30/month. It has the option of being self monitored or having an operator handle things for you. You can also set up a security alarm that is extremely easy to dismantle when you’re coming and going.
I have a very large dog and he sets off the sensor so I’m always getting notifications that someone is in my yard. 99% of the time it’s just my pup.
You control everything through an app. It’s very simple. I did watch a couple youtube videos to get things installed, but I was able to do it all myself. Except the floodlight, which my brother installed for me.
