Before I went on my road trip (that originally was going to be a solo venture) I watched some videos and bought some things for safety.
The first thing I got was a little device to detect hidden cameras, microphones or GPS trackers. I have seen so many stories of women who find air tags on the cars or hidden cameras in their hotel room or air bnb. I don’t anticipate these things happening to me, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. This one has 15,000 5 Star reviews on Amazon.
Another thing I had was an alibi. Not for committing a crime, but I was fully prepared with a side story for anyone who might ask if I was traveling alone. I planned to go to a few eating establishments and state parks. Any small talk made I was going to tell them about meeting up soon with my friend, or my imaginary husband who would be joining me later. As a Christian I don’t promote lying, but for single female solo travel I am all about safety. (I don’t frequent bars or anywhere that I might have to worry about spiked drinks or anything, so I probably wouldn’t have needed the alibi at all.) But I had one ready!
I have a portable battery very similar to this and I have used it to jumpstart my car, jumpstart the lawn mower, as a mega flashlight, to keep my computer going for teaching during a storm, and more. It’s phenomenal!
Some things I haven’t bought yet but I plan to before I do any more traveling (solo or otherwise).
There is nothing worse than waiting for a wind shield to defrost. This holds true anywhere it snows or gets below freezing. This windshield cover is something I’ve wanted for a while.
If you have a flat and need to temporarily air a tire up this is a winner. I think this should be in every car trunk for emergencies.
These things aren’t only useful for a female traveling alone, but I definitely think women need some extra protection out there. Especially when traveling on scenic routes or less populated areas.
