This week I had my second official EMDR session. I won’t go into detail because it was very emotional, but one thing that stuck out to me.
When doing EMDR the therapist might ask (or in my case asks) where you feel the emotion.
For me it’s been a lot of pressure in the upper part of my body.
When I close my eyes and the buzzers are in my hand and I literally feel like I’m not in an office, but in a different location. This week I felt like I was sitting in a valley between two mountains and with each question she asked the mountains around me grew taller. It’s like in a cartoon when the character looks up and there’s something towering in front of them.
That could be because I just got back from a trip to the mountains.
But the mountains are a reoccurring theme in my life and I find that fascinating considering I’m from the midwest and have traveled through legit mountains less than 10 times in my life.
