Well, it’s November 2023 and I still love my flexible work schedule. Last month alone I was able to attend my brother’s wedding in Arkansas, attend my Grandpa’s funeral in Oklahoma, and stay with my youngest siblings as my parents traveled all without losing pay. Why? Because 1. My sister in law is on maternity leave and I haven’t been needed to help with the kids as much, and 2. Because I am pretty much a freelance everything.
There have been some set backs lately. My friend’s shop closed down, so there’s one less place to sell my products. My other friend’s shop is switching to only apparel items, so I’m losing a second place to sell my stuff locally. And the farm where I buy milk hasn’t placed any bread orders lately. So… that’s a bummer.
BUT… When God shuts a door (or three) he opens some windows!
A friend who I met through a homesteading club is potentially starting a flea market about 1 hour from me. She asked if I’d like a space! I told her I couldn’t come sell every weekend, but I’d like to come maybe once a month and sell or have a permanent booth through consignment.
ALSO it’s now spooky season and midwest culture = cinnamon rolls and chili. So. I’m going to start getting cinnamon roll orders from the farm.
ALSO I have an idea to start a farm stand either in town at a friend’s location OR my driveway. (We’ll see… I live rurally so I don’t think there’d be much traffic.)
ALSO today I heard about a holiday market happening locally who need vendors.
So there’s definitely opportunities in the future. And in the meantime I’m still substitute teaching, selling on etsy and ebay, writing, researching affiliate marketing etc…
