I have decided that estate sales give me the creeps. Today I wandered through two empty homes. One looks like it had been abandoned years ago. Very 70s (in the worst way possible) and they were asking way too much for junk. The other house looked like a sweet little old lady had lived there, but they were also asking for a ton of money for her leftover junk. It was much cleaner and more modern. But both experiences were creepy.
To think about someone wandering through your home, picking through your things without a care for who you were. It’s awkward for the family running the estate sale. The people in the house are all strangers and perusing another stranger’s possessions together… The whole experience was not one I plan to relive.
I understand Great Aunt Edna was a lovely lady, but her half finished quilts aren’t worth $100, and her china set isn’t worth $8 a cup, bowl or plate. The people setting these prices are often delusional.
What do you think your leftover possessions are worth?
