High school is kind of a joke. It was when I was growing up and it still is today. One reason I believe this to be true is… My junior year for debate we had t-shirts made. They said, “Save Darfur”. I couldn’t tell you what our debate topic was. I couldn’t tell you where to find Darfur on a map, except that I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere in Africa. And I didn’t know what we were saving Darfur from. But, I was egotistical enough to think that paying for and wearing a t-shirt that said, “Save Darfur” would make a big impact. It’s likely that the t-shirt money went straight into the pockets of some scam organization. I honestly think that praying for Darfur every day would have done significantly more to help them than buying a t-shirt. But it gave me the chance to virtue signal, and I thought the t-shirt was cute. *sigh* Youthful ignorance…
