Grounding

Grounding is a simple thing that can make a huge impact. If you haven’t stood outside in the morning light, barefoot (after checking for spiders of course) then you are missing out.

Grounding is the act of walking barefoot and directly touching the soil. As you do this your body absorbs negative electrons from the earth. This helps balance the positive charge of our bodies. It stabilizes our circadian rhythm, increases energy, reduces inflammation and stress…

The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine says, “Emerging research is revealing that direct physical contact of the human body with the surface of the earth (grounding or earthing) has intriguing effects on human physiology and health, including beneficial effects on various cardiovascular risk factors. This study examined effects of 2 hours of grounding on the electrical charge (zeta potential) on red blood cells (RBCs) and the effects on the extent of RBC clumping.”

When I can convince myself to get out of bed in the early AM before the sun is completely up I walk out to the front corner of my yard with a big glass of Ningxia Red (juice), I run my feet through the grass a few times to make sure any spiders are long gone, and I remove my shoes. I stand there and pray, sing a hymn, and enjoy the peace. It’s a marvelous way to start AND end the day.

Day 2: June 2023, the sky was overcast, the day was heavenly.

Day 3: I made it out a little earlier to watch the full sunrise.

I can honestly say my sleep was much improved in June. As someone who suffers from insomnia something FIERCE getting up with the sun and going to bed with the sun really helped me. Give it a go and let me know what you think.

  1. This is one of the most inspiring habits I’ve seen from you and I’d love to read more about daily habits you would recommend or are trying. You seem to write a lot about things that truly are self-improving but you aren’t so hard core about it that I feel like I could never approach it. Also, I’d love to see a photo essay on each morning that you get up and hold your glass of juice up while the sun rises. That would be so amazing!
